This can be for a number of reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Metrics are unaligned with company expectations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a lack of clear expectations for the supervisors and employees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performance feedback is not timely, which prevents immediate corrective action<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a lack of formal employee and supervisor change management training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A labour management system can address each of the above issues, enabling organisations to operate at a much higher level of efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-are-the-main-components-of-a-labor-management-project\">What are the main components of a labour management project?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every labour management project should consist of preferred work methods, work standards, program training and LMS software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Preferred Work Methods (PWM)<\/strong> &#8211; While standard operating procedures (SOPs) define what to do for a particular task, PWMs describe in detail how to best perform a task. The PWM is the basis for the employee training program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Work standards<\/strong> &#8211; These are the expectations, or goals, that are developed in conjunction with the PWMs. Work standards are determined in one of three ways:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reasonable expectations \u2013 Based on the historical average of the volume of units divided by the total number of hours to produce the work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multi-variable standards \u2013 An engineered approach that takes into consideration multiple factors such as lines, units, cube and weight to determine the time necessary to complete a task<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discrete engineering standards \u2013 This is the most accurate form of an engineered labour standard, considering equipment used, actual travel distances and actual product sizes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img  decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/envistacorp.techyscouts.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/image-1.jpeg\" width=\"312\" height=\"273\" alt=\"Diagram with four overlapping ovals labeled Training, Work Methods, Work Standards, and Software surrounding a central circle labeled LMS.\" class=\"wp-image-119197\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Program Training<\/strong>: This typically consists of change management training, employee observation training in the usage of preferred methods, employee coaching and counseling and LMS software application end user training. Other common factors include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High seasonal workforce usage (i.e., temporary workers for peak holiday season)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High turnover<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An inexperienced workforce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A greenfield facility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Large investments in material handling equipment (forklifts, pallets jacks, turret trucks, or order\/stock pickers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Considering an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/envistacorp.techyscouts.dev\/en-au\/2020\/06\/22\/10-tips-for-successful-incentive-plans-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">incentive plan<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-long-does-it-take-to-implement-an-lms\">How long does it take to implement an LMS?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The time to implement an LMS depends on the type of standards that are developed and the vertical market of the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For facilities that want to begin with labour reporting based on transactional history and no labour standards, the typical duration would be six to ten weeks, depending on the complexity of the outbound shipping profile.
